Chasing Justice: Florida Justice Association 1950-2000 is now at the printer and has an expected…
A message from FJA Executive Director, Paul Jess:
It gives me great sadness to report that long-time Florida Justice Association member, Bill Harrell, passed away peacefully at home in Jacksonville, Florida, Saturday, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Bill founded Harrell & Harrell, P.A. 25 years ago. His personal injury law firm, which is known for its familiar, “Don’t settle for less than you deserve” slogan, has 18 lawyers and 100 employees that serve the Northeast Florida community.
Bill was affectionately known to members of the firm as “El Jefe.” Two of his children, Holt and Julie, are practicing trial attorneys at the firm, as well as Renee, his wife of nearly 20 years, who is also the firm’s president.
Bill was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army in 1968 and later served three years as a Deputy Sheriff before attending law school.
Bill was always very active in the Florida Justice Association, serving on its Board of Directors and Executive Committee for many years. Bill received numerous awards for his support of the organization, including The Crystal EAGLE award, a “Shoe Leather” award, and this year’s “From Day One” award. This award recognizes an individual for serving FJA and participating in our EAGLE program from their first days as an association member, which for Bill was 41 years ago in 1976.
The family will have a private service in Live Oak, Florida at Bill’s childhood church.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to either:
