FJA’s #MembersInTheCommunity Campaign highlights individuals and firms who are not only committed to protecting the rights of Florida’s citizens and consumers inside the courtroom, but also supporting their communities outside the courtroom.

In the spirit of calling out to dads/fathers across the state and raising their awareness on what it takes to be a better father, husband, and person, FJA Member Mike Serrano, Serrano Law, started an “All Pro Dad’s” Chapter at his son’s school at Corbett Prep, in Tampa.

After a couple of years of requesting the school to create this Chapter, Mike was finally able to launch its first meeting this past September. Dads throughout the Corbett Prep community were invited to attend with their sons and daughters. The attendance at the first meeting was outstanding.  The topic was “Initiative”.

So far, Mike is committed to meeting monthly.

The meetings present a slide show “theme of the day” followed by a guided one on one session with dad and child which provides an opportunity for father and child to ask each other questions relating to the topic.

Personal responsibility, character, accountability, positivity and kindness to others are the focus of these meetings.

For Mike, this Chapter carves out time for him to build his relationship with his son and be a better Dad.

“I am a busy trial lawyer, but I value my time with my son and I can appreciate the impact that I will have on him.  I want my impact on him to be positive and instrumental in his development into adulthood,” said Mike.

For the bigger picture, this group is a conduit for fathers across the state to appreciate their responsibility to their kids, spouses, friends and their communities. “We should strive for more, do more, and ultimately make an impact on our greatest resource, our kids and family,” says Mike.

Mike has put a tremendous amount of time into this project and plans to continue to do more.  “It takes up a lot of my time and it will continue to carve into my time as an attorney, but the rewards are invaluable,” he said.

According to their website, All Pro Dads are a group of people passionately committed to bringing intentional focus to fathers around the world. “Our message will inspire you to embrace who you are, give you tenderness of heart, and boldness of character as a dad and husband. We are consistently here for you to provide guidance and practical tips in raising your kids in a life-giving way. All Pro Dad is a program of Family First.” https://allprodadchapters.com/

In addition to his involvement with All Pro Dads, Mike’s firm, Serrano Law, has made various donations to charitable organizations this year and in years past including sponsorship of the “Super Bowl” Initiative in Tampa in 2019 & 2020 to help in the eradication of Human Trafficking, sponsoring local youth baseball programs, and supporting organizations such as Thomas Promise and UR Esteem in donating school supplies to our local community.

The firm’s latest sponsorship was for BeSpoke & Co.’s 7th Annual Goldfinger Event in Tampa where proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.  Unfortunately, this event was postponed due to Hurricane Ian. It has been rescheduled to February 2023.
