The Florida Justice Association and its members are often the only defense against corporations and other interests that continually seek to limit individuals’ rights and access to the courts. Corporate interests continue to encourage Florida lawmakers to pass legislation that would lessen accountability and responsibility for corporations and others when they cause harm.
Every single year, powerful corporations spend millions of dollars courting policymakers in Tallahassee against you, your clients, and the integrity of Florida’s civil justice system. The FJA works tirelessly defending against these interests, to protect you and your clients’ rights and to ensure every citizen has access to the courts. FJA is the most powerful and effective organization in the state fighting for you, your clients’ rights and defending against those who are pursuing an agenda of controlling the courts and eroding judicial independence. The support of our members and is critical to educating lawmakers, advocating for victims, and ensuring we are effective.
In no other area do our efforts at the FJA have more of a direct impact on the success of your practice than during Florida’s annual legislative session. That’s when FJA’s legislative team works tirelessly day and night on behalf of you and your clients. However, we always need volunteers to come to Tallahassee to lobby in their areas of expertise.
All FJA Members are invited and encouraged to come to Tallahassee during the Legislative Session and join our lobbying ranks. FJA has various legislative committees on a variety of issues and areas of law – if you’re interested in joining a committee and lending your expertise please email FJA Director of Legislative and Government Affairs Laura Youmans. Fighting for justice for all takes all of us! For more information on coming to advocate in Tallahassee please email Laura Youmans or FJA Communications Director Allison North Jones.
